Most of you get to know my maternity and newborn photography work via my blog posts. What I don’t post a lot of is information and experiences about me and my life. So this post will be just that – a post about my recent vacation with my family and not really about newborn photography. If you’d like to read more about newborns you can find other blogs posts by clicking here. So why is Newborn Photography listed in the blog title? Well, because that is what I do. This is just one blog post that I hope you’ll enjoy outside of my normal body of work.
Twin Lake Village
My in-laws have been going to Twin Lake Village in New Hampshire for 32 years. They go every year for during the same week every summer. Last year was my first year going with the kids and we loved it! So I set my sights on going every year. This is one week a year that I don’t make beds, plan meals, clean any dishes, or really worry about the general safety of my children. In other words, you can leave your doors unlocked, walk alone, and be out past sundown. The only thing waiting to harm you is too much sun, wine, and those mosquitoes. I despise mosquitoes. Think Dirty Dancing but with larger family cabins and less Patrick Swayze. There was no final send-off dance. I know, they should.
In addition to swimming in the lake and renting boats, we play on the 9-hole golf course, eat three served meals a day, and front-porch-sit with gin & tonics and wine. We play night golf with glow sticks. We play a night of Bingo (where Brooke won $9). And it’s pretty much all included. This is what vacation is all about – less fuss, more fun. It’s true relaxation. In other words, barring any unforeseen events I plan on making it an annual tradition for our family. So hopefully for the next 32 years!
