-Newborn Photography Denver, Colorado-
Sweet baby Lauren came to visit my studio the other day. At 11 days old she is a dream, sleeping the whole time for me, and is just a chunk of pure love! Lauren’s mother contacted me looking for newborn photography in the Denver area. She knows that her little babe won’t be this little for much longer. I love it when clients put a value on cherishing memories and will drive into town for their photo sessions, most of all for newborns! And she’s right – Lauren will never be that little again, and I am honored to capture those precious cheeks for her. She is just a doll, and I couldn’t have asked for a better client!
Since she was so sleepy, I was able to place Lauren into almost every pose typical for a session. Sometimes they awake and need a feeding. Sometimes they awake because newborns spend several minutes each day in a quiet-but-alert mode. Those wide-eyed images are some of my favorites! Consequently they also don’t allow for some of the standard poses you see in many photographer’s portfolios.
When it comes to posed newborn positions, many people have concerns about the baby. They worry about them being comfortable because they look squished into positions. The reality is that prior to 14 days old baby’s bones are not yet fused together which allows them to be so “curly.” They spend 40 weeks curled up in the womb. The poses I do are not only comfortable for the baby, but they are also very safe. The studio is warm and I always use spotting even if the baby appears to be secured into any one position. Despite how little they are babies have strong reflexes and need constant supervision. Your baby is top priority!
